Light Yagami and L are often represented as opposites, even to the point that Light uses a PC and L uses an Apple Macintosh.

The theme playing at the very beginning of the pilot is a chanted variation of the prayer “Kyrie Eleison”, which is Greek for “Lord have mercy.”

L shares common points with the original manga author Tsugumi Ôba: both of them use pseudonyms (such as L at the beginning of the series). Ôba Tsugumi real name, appearance, or gender remains unknown.

It is rumored that writer Tsugumi Ôba also sits like L while thinking about plot.

L, Misa, Light and his Father are seen in Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid: Ejji obu hevun (2005) outside the barber shop for about 3 seconds. “L” is riding a bicycle (right to left) and “Misa” is on the standing on the right, spying on Light and his father.

A picture of Light Yagami can be seen in an episode of Death Parade (2015), an anime that is made by some of the same companies that made the anime for Death Note.
