Kel Mitchell details sudden hospitalization, recovery

On the brink of the release of Good Burger 2, star Kel Mitchell went to the hospital in a situation that he called “a genuinely frightening time.” Thankfully, Mitchell is on the rebound…so get the man some orange soda!

While he left his social media followers with an ominous yet hopeful message last week, Kel Mitchell took to Instagram over the weekend to let them in on details of just what happened. In the video, Mitchell said his situation came on quite suddenly. “I was out shopping when suddenly the whole room started spinning. So I was like, ‘I must be dehydrated so I need to go get some water, some food.’ When I did that, the whole right side of my arm was numb, followed by me not being able to swallow. That’s when I panicked. And so I drove myself to the hospital.” As it turns out, Kel Mitchell’s health scare came back to a previous injury. “It was actually a bulging disc that I had from a prior injury that was pressing up against a nerve, mimicking all those symptoms that I was going through…I’m thanking God that I am good. Thank y’all for all the prayers in the comments. Even the crazy ones. I saw the, ‘Give him some orange soda in his IV.’” See? Kel loooooves orange soda! Mitchell captioned his post with, “For those curious about recent events and my well-being, appreciate the concern and sending love your way. This should bring some clarity,” along with shining star and prayer emojis.

While Kel Mitchell is most well-known as a mainstay on Nickelodeon in the ‘90s – with shows like All That, Kenan & Kel and more – we can’t forget his turn as Invisible Boy in Mystery Men, a welcome addition to the stacked cast. And while a sequel may not feel right after the loss of Paul Reubens, we’d still love to see Mitchell reprise the role for a one-off somewhere.

Kel Mitchell has also proven quite loyal to his beginnings, turning up on fare like Game Shakers, serving as an executive producer for the All That revival and more.

Good Burger 2 hits theaters on November 22nd, just in time for Thanksgiving. Admit it, you’d rather Ed take your orrrrrder than sit next to your uncle – come on, you’ve seen the vile trash he posts on Facebook! In the meantime, send your positive vibes to Kel Mitchell in the comments section below.
