Rebel Moon Interviews: Djimon Hounsou, Ray Fisher, Cleopatra Coleman and more
Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire debuted this weekend on Netflix, and while critics were cool with the film (with one exception – yours truly), the film is a hit with viewers. While the official numbers will likely only be released later today or tomorrow, the streamer took advantage of the hype, releasing the first teaser trailer for the sequel, Rebel Moon: Part Two: The Scargiver – yesterday.
Many fans have noted that some of the co-stars in the movie, including Djimon Hounsou as General Titus, Staz Nair as Tarak, and Cleopatra Coleman as Devra Bloodaxe, have limited screen time. The new trailer already suggests that will be addressed in the sequel, which promises a lot more screen time for all of them. I was lucky enough to sit down with some of these actors and Ray Fisher, who all but steals the film as the badass Darrian Bloodaxe, to get their two cents on working with Zack Snyder (who we interviewed last week) on his two-part epic. All of them, including newcomer E. Duffy, praise Snyder, who allowed them to put their own stamp on the film.
I had a great time speaking to them, particularly Djimon Hounsou. To note, Hounsou speaks to me a little in French early in the interview. It’s because he was amused to learn that I’m from French-speaking Canada, and we had a bit of small talk in the language before the discussion. He’s a charming guy- super laid back and easygoing. I loved talking to everyone, but he and Staz were special, as the two guys share a great rapport. I’m looking forward to seeing more from them in the sequel.
