Arrow Video unveils a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 trailer ahead of 4K release – Exclusive!
I was born in the 1980s, so it’s probably no surprise to hear that I was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles super-fan when I was a kid. I watched the cartoon, collected the toys, had the bed sheets, and would get hyped for the movies. I was blown away by the first live-action film in 1990, so my Turtle-mania was at its peak when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze was heading for its 1991 release. This was one of the biggest cinematic events of my life! More than thirty years later, Arrow Video is gearing up to give the ’90s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trilogy a 4K release just in time for the holidays, on December 15 to be exact, (you can order a copy on their website HERE and read our review HERE), and in anticipation of that release, we’re proud to share an EXCLUSIVE first look at the trailer for the 4K release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze. You can watch it in the embed above.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Trilogy will be available to stream exclusively on the Arrow Video Channel and to own on 4K UHD & Blu-ray from December 15th.
Directed by Michael Pressman from a screenplay written by Todd W. Langen, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze has the following synopsis: The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Mark Caso, Michelan Sisti, Leif Tilden, Kenn Troum) again battle their archenemy, the rogue ninja Shredder (Francois Chau). Shredder attempts revenge by obtaining the same radioactive ooze that created the Turtles and unleashing two new monstrous mutants: Tokka, an oversized snapping turtle, and Rahzar, a fearsome wolf-like creature. When Shredder plans to use the remaining ooze on himself, the Turtles must harness their ninja fighting skills to stop him. In addition to the Arrow Video release, the film will also be returning to theatres in March.
The description of Arrow Video’s 4K release reads, “A shell-shocking saga of mutants, martial arts and New York mayhem, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trilogy brought comic book grit, practical effects wizardry and pizza-fuelled fun to a generation of moviegoers, helping turn four sewer-dwelling brothers into global pop culture icons. Launching in 1990 with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, director Steve Barron’s gritty, high-energy adaptation of the underground comic became a box office phenomenon, fusing martial arts action, streetwise humor and the groundbreaking animatronics of Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. The 1991 sequel The Secret of the Ooze is an irresistibly fun second slice: a deep-dive into the turtles’ origins where new mutant foes Tokka and Rahzar are thrown in the mix… double the stakes, double the pizza! Rounding out the trilogy, 1993’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III sends the heroes in a half shell back to feudal Japan in a time-travel adventure full of samurai showdowns, ancient legends and comic chaos. Restored in glorious 4K and packed with extras, this radical set celebrates the legacy of Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael in one of the most iconic franchises of the era, blending innovative effects, comic-book heart and early ’90s attitude.”
