Stephen Graham will reteam with Tom Hanks for the World War II sequel Greyhound 2

Apple Studios is ready to dive into a deal with Stephen Graham (Snatch, Boardwalk Empire, This is England) to reteam with Tom Hanks (The ‘Burbs, Toy Story, Forrest Gump) for Greyhound 2, a sequel to the duo’s 2020 World War II submarine drama. Aaron Schneider, who directed Greyhound, returns to helm the sequel, with production already underway in Australia.

Who else is returning for Greyhound 2?

In addition to Tom Hanks and Stephen Graham, Rob Morgan (Mudbound, Don’t Look Up, Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty) and Elisabeth Shue (Adventures in Babysitting, Leaving Las Vegas, The Saint) will reprise their roles as Cleveland and Evelyn, respectively. Today’s report also says that Robin Hood actor Jack Patten is joining the cast.

While Tom Hanks is reprising his role as Captain Krause, he’s also penning the screenplay, which follows Captain Krause (Hanks) and the Greyhound crew from the beaches of Normandy to the Pacific Ocean as they help turn the tide of the war. Graham returns for the sequel as Charlie Cole.

After completing work on Ashley Walters’s Animol, which goes behind the walls of a juvenile detention center, where young inmates navigate friendship, identity, and personal growth while confronting harsh realities and their own paths to redemption, Stephen Graham reprised his role as Hayden Stagg for the upcoming event film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.

Currently, he’s filming an untitled Tim Van Patten drama, starring Liev Schreiber and Zazie Beetz. The project focuses on an ex-soldier, Jonah Lynn (Schreiber), who leaves Philadelphia for a quiet life. When serial killer Jurek Walter (Graham) threatens his new home and family, Jonah must protect them, even as he sends his FBI agent daughter Saga (Beetz) to track the killer’s last victim.

For a guy who used to be in everything, Tom Hanks is lying relatively low these days. It’s an event when he pokes his head out of the Hollywood fog for a new project, even if it’s returning to Pixar for Toy Story 5. He must have something exciting up his sleeve if he’s getting the band back together for Greyhound 2. I’ve never seen the original, but I always enjoy it when original cast members return for a sequel; it makes the project feel more authentic.
