Paramount celebrates Friday the 13th with new interview videos

Paramount Pictures was behind the Friday the 13th franchise back in its glory days – the 1980s, when the decade got started with the first Friday the 13th (1980) and wrapped up with Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989). Eight movies in one decade. If only we could get a streak like that again. Instead, today marks the 17th anniversary of the release of the last Friday the 13th feature film (which came from the team of Paramount and Warner Bros.). At least we have the Crystal Lake TV series right around the corner.

Celebration

To promote the fact that they have a large selection of horror movies that are available on digital, including the first eight Friday the 13th movies, Paramount celebrated last Christmas with a “Season’s Screamings” video that featured iconic Friday the 13th slasher Jason Voorhees and Friday the 13th: A New Beginning heroine Melanie Kinnaman. Now that we’ve reached a new Friday the 13th on the calendar, the studio is celebrating by releasing two new interview videos!

The first video, which can be seen in the embed above, is called The Cult of Crystal Lake and features interviews with Kinnaman, composer Harry Manfredini, Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI cast member Darcy DeMoss, Tom Morga (who played Jason Voorhees and a copycat killer in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning), Ari Lehman (young Jason in the original Friday the 13th), Friday the 13th Part 2 heroine Amy Steel, Ken Kirzinger (stuntman on Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan, Jason in Freddy vs. Jason), and Kane Hodder, who played Jason in Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood, Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan, Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday, Jason X, and Friday the 13th: The Game, discussing the franchise’s fans.

The second video, which can be viewed at the bottom of this article, is Their Names Were Jason and has Lehman, Morga, Hodder, and Kirzinger talking about their experiences playing Jason Voorhees.

As a huge fan of the franchise, I really appreciate that Paramount decided to celebrate the “holiday” and the franchise with these new interview videos. It’s always nice to see new Friday the 13th content.
