Gal Gadot’s Amazon MGM Studios thriller, The Runner, has received a rating from the MPA

The Rating

Last year, it was reported that Gal Gadot was slated to star in director Kevin Madonald’s The Runner, an upcoming thriller set up at Amazon MGM Studios. David Kosse produces through his newly established Rockwood Pictures, with Amazon MGM Studios holding the worldwide rights. Since then, Gadot’s appearance in Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White had drawn criticisms for her performance (however, the whole film was a magnet for critiques), and now, Gadot is back in the action-thriller genre, where usually fares better.

Not much has been heard about the project since last year. However, the new MPA ratings bulletin, which is reporting on some upcoming films, has revealed that The Runner has been officially rated by the organization. The Runner will be rated PG-13 for violent content/some bloody
images, some sexual material, strong language and a drug reference

The Runner

Macdonald, whose films include One to One: John & YokoThe Last King of ScotlandThe Mauritanian, and more, directs The Runner from a script by Mark Gibson (The WildSnow Dogs). According to Deadline, the plot finds Gadot playing “a high-powered attorney who must race through London, following the cryptic commands of a mysterious Caller, as she fights against time to save her abducted son.” Other than that, details for Kevin Macdonald and Gal Gadot’s The Runner are rather scarce.

The Wonder

As James Gunn’s DCU gets up and running, Gadot’s time as Wonder Woman had come to an end. Just months ago, Gadot would reflect on becoming the iconic DC hero for her 12th year anniversary and posted a previously unseen screen test with Ben Affleck in celebration of the journey.

Following the success of Superman, DC Studios finally began developing a Wonder Woman movie. They have tapped Ana Nogueira, writer of the upcoming Supergirl movie, to pen the script. Along with Superman and Batman, Wonder Woman is one of the biggest DC characters, so it was only a matter of time before the Amazonian made her way to the DCU. There’s talk of Adria Arjona taking on the mantle. Do you agree with this casting? Who would you like to see as the next Wonder Woman?
