Netflix’s Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Debuts a Gallery of Character Posters For the Animated Spinoff Series
Netflix‘s Stranger Things is over, but if you think the streamer is about to let one of its most beloved (and lucrative) properties fade into obscurity, think again. Not long after the conclusion of the live-action series, Netflix is oiling the chains of its BMX collection for Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, an animated spinoff series premiering on April 23, 2026, that explores new, untold stories in Hawkins. Today, to get fans hyped for the spinoff’s Netflix debut, the streamer unveiled a collection of new character posters (posted below).
What’s Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 About?
Set in the winter of 1985 between Seasons 2 and 3, it follows the main kids—voiced by a new cast—as they confront fresh, non-apocalyptic, localized threats. Here’s the official synopsis via Netflix:
“Return to Hawkins with Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, an exciting new animated series from showrunner Eric Robles and executive producers the Duffer Brothers. In the winter of 1985, snow blankets the town and the horrors of the Upside Down are finally fading. Our heroes Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max have settled back into a normal life of D&D, snowball fights, and quiet days. But beneath the ice, something terrifying has awakened. Could it be from the Upside Down? From the depths of Hawkins Lab? Or from somewhere else entirely? Our heroes must race to solve this mystery and save Hawkins in this new story set in the Stranger Things universe.”
Who Stars in the New Animated Spinoff Series?
Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 hails from the animation studio Flying Bark, with Eric Robles serving as the project’s showrunner and executive producer. Other executive producers include Matt and Ross Duffer, along with Hilary Leavitt via Upside Down Pictures, Shawn Levy via 21 Laps, and Dan Cohen. The cast consists of Janeane Garofalo, Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Lucas Diaz as Mike, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Elisha Williams as Lucas, Benjamin Plessala as Will, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Brett Gipson as Hopper, Jeremy Jordan as Steve, and Odessa A’zion as Nikki Baxter, with Lou Diamond Phillips.
Count me as curious to check out Stranger Things: Tales From ’85. I like the overall look of the series, and I look forward to seeing how the writers can weave these adventures into the overall narrative without stepping on too many toes. For people who love Stranger Things, it’s incredible that Netflix has this presentation ready to go so soon after the conclusion of the core series. Gotta keep that ball rolling, right? I’m curious what’s next for Stranger Things after Tales, because I don’t see Netflix letting this franchise go anytime soon.
