Iron Maiden documentary to hit theaters this May

Iron Maiden is in the midst of a 50th-anniversary tour, but the English heavy metal band will also be the subject of a new documentary chronicling their epic musical journey across the last five decades. It’s been announced that Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition is set to hit theaters on May 7.

Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition

“With unprecedented access to the official archives and intimate recollections from the band, both current and past, Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition invites fans to experience one of the most iconic journeys in music history,” reads the official description. “Spanning five decades, this electrifying documentary charts the band’s rise from the pubs of East London to the world’s biggest stadiums. Featuring exclusive interviews with band members and contributors such as Javier Bardem, Lars Ulrich and Chuck D, as well as all-new animated sequences of the band’s legendary mascot, Eddie, the film offers a rare and intimate look at Iron Maiden’s uncompromising vision and unwavering connection with their truly global army of fans.“

The documentary was directed by Malcolm Venville (Churchill at War) and produced by Dominic Freeman (Spirits in the Forest – A Depeche Mode Film). Tickets to the theatrical screenings go on sale on March 18.

EddFest

The band also recently announced EddFest, which is what they’re calling their only 2026 show in the UK. Taking place on July 11 at Knebworth Park, the band teased that they would be “turning it into as much of a Maiden World as we can for all our fans to enjoy.“

Fans will get a once-in-a-lifetime, 48-hour celebration of all things Iron Maiden. Expect immersive themed areas and bars, exclusive experiences, live music, and nonstop entertainment at every turn.

Inside EddFest, fans can step into the Infinite Dreams Museum Experience, a fully walk-through exhibition showcasing iconic stage props, rare artifacts, and legendary relics from the band’s storied history.

Beyond that lies Maidenville, home to the most epic Eddie’s Dive Bar yet, a second live stage packed with music and entertainment, and the Unfair Funfair — complete with rides and Eddie-themed carnival games. Fans can also explore Eddie’s Emporium and discover even more surprises waiting across the festival grounds.
