Tulsa King spinoff starring Samuel L. Jackson gets title change
Samuel L. Jackson appeared in the most recent season of Tulsa King, with his character set to take center stage in a spinoff series. At the time, the spinoff was titled NOLA King and would have been set in New Orleans, but the show has undergone a creative overhaul, leading to a new title: Frisco King. The show will now be set in Fisco, Texas.
Taylor Sheridan Will Write The First Season
The title change also comes with the news that Taylor Sheridan will write all eight episodes of the first season of Frisco King.
“We are honored to have Taylor Sheridan write the first season of Frisco King and bring to life Samuel L. Jackson’s iconic character,” said Matt Thunell, President, Paramount Television Studios. “Having him pen all episodes of the season with his singular voice will be a treat for fans of Tulsa King and audiences around the world.“
Although Sheridan is credited as the creator of Tulsa King, his only writing credit on the show is as co-writer on the pilot. Production is set to begin by late March in Fort Worth.
“Taylor Sheridan continues to build worlds that attract some of the most iconic talent working today, andFrisco King is no exception,” said Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals at Paramount+. “Having Samuel L. Jackson step into this universe is a testament to the scale and ambition of the storytelling Taylor is crafting. We’re thrilled to expand this storyline with such a powerhouse creative team and cast on Paramount+.“
Where Does He Find the Time?
Taylor Sheridan is one busy dude. In addition to Tulsa King (and the upcoming spinoff), he’s got a variety of shows under his banner, including Mayor of Kingstown (set to end with season 5), Lioness, and Landman. There’s also Marshals, a Yellowstone spinoff series featuring Luke Grimes reprising his role as Kayce Dutton. The show will premiere on CBS on March 1.
And then there’s The Madison, which was initially believed to be another Yellowstone spinoff but has now been confirmed to stand on its own. It features a star-studded cast led by Michelle Pfeiffer. It will premiere on Paramount+ on March 14.
