Heated Rivalry Sets Season 2 Shoot for This Summer, Eyes Spring 2027 Premiere
After delaying the next book in Rachel Reid‘s Game Changers series until June 2027, it’s no surprise that Crave wants to return to the cottage as soon as humanly possible for Heated Rivalry Season 2. According to reports, filming for the second season of Heated Rivalry begins this summer, with Crave looking to score a June 2027 premiere.
Heated Rivalry Series Creators on the Show’s Popularity and Plans
Heated Rivalry series creator Jacob Tierney and executive producer Brendan Brady shared the news with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, with Tierney saying they’re writing the second season now with plans to shoot in August.
“There will be more Heated Rivalry on your TVs, like, truly, as soon as humanly possible,” Tierney said. Brady added that “like the best parts of this show” that fans should “enjoy the yearn” of waiting for the show’s next season.
Tierney and Brady, who previously worked on Crave’s other comedies, Letterkenny and Shoresy, spoke about adapting Reid’s spicy sports drama for TV, saying, “They trusted me, but they also trusted the material and the audience already loved this,” Tierney said. “What struck me was that there’s a lot of people who think that they’re smarter than the audience that loves the book, and I don’t think they are.”
Tierney then said that his version of Heated Rivalry is“very faithful adaptation” of Rachel Reid’s source material. “This was a Canadian book. We’re Canadian producers.”
Praise for Rachel Reid’s Game Changers Book Series
Speaking from experience, Tierney and Brady’s adaptations of Reid’s books are extremely faithful. I’m in the midst of reading Reid’s Game Changers series now, and find the show to be a near one-to-one representation of the novels. One of the things that I like most about Reid’s writing is that there’s no filler. She keeps the story moving, leaving everything of little consequence on the cutting-room floor. Heated Rivalry does the same, even cutting Scott and Kip’s story down to the essentials. It’s brilliant.
Like Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters, Heated Rivalry took the world by storm shortly after the premiere of its first episode. The groundswell for the series was so urgent that it rose to the top of the television charts, signaling a demand to air the series on an international stage. Then there’s the fandom, which is off-the-charts obsessed with the comedic sports romance series. If you can’t already tell, we’re massive Heated Rivalry fans in my house. My wife is literally counting down the days until the rumored holiday special later this year while also looking for social events around our city to attend. It’s nuts.
