Nathan Fillion Sparks New Hope for a Firefly Reunion With Viral Video Series Visiting Former Castmates

Attention, Browncoats! After waiting 24 years, hope for a Firefly reunion is more real than ever! I know! Okay, let’s all calm down. What’s this all about? Am I pulling your leg? Let’s have you be the judge. Recently, Firefly star Nathan Fillion launched a short video series on social media featuring him visiting original cast members of the beloved sci-fi series, and fans are now speculating about a possible reboot ahead of a mysterious “announcement.”

Too Good to Be True?

I know what you’re thinking. We’ve heard this all before. That might be true, but with reboots and reunions being all the rage, doesn’t now feel like the perfect time to get the crew of the Serenity together for a long-awaited reunion? Haven’t we earned this? Have we not been through enough already? Don’t f**k with us, Fillion. My heart can’t take it.

Okay. Just breathe. Anyway. Firefly is a space Western that premiered on Fox in 2002. Scores of fans loved it, but Fox canceled it after only 11 of its 14-episode run. Despite Fox’s best efforts to ruin another great thing, the series endured on home video, leading to a cult-like following for the show created by Joss Whedon. Fans have waited for literal decades for something, anything to happen regarding a Firefly reunion or reboot. Has their ship finally come in?

Fillion Goes Door-to-Door

A few days ago, Fillion began posting a video series on his Instagram of The Rookie and Castle star visiting former Firefly castmates, like Gina Torres, Morena Baccarin, Sean Maher, and Summer Glau. Each clip features Fillion surprising his Firefly co-stars with a pop-in. They instinctively know why he’s there, asking, “Is it time?” Fillion informs them that yes, it’s time. The duo then exchanges a wistful/knowing look before staring into space. It’s actually quite hilarious how the situation escalates with each cast member. Watch the videos. You’ll see.

Now, not to be “that guy,” but it’s important to note that Fillion doesn’t appear in the same shot with any of his Firefly friends, so this may be simply a bit to stir excitement for something simple. Did he really visit them? Does it even matter? Should I shut the hell up and stop pissing on people’s dreams?
