Here are the winners for the 2026 Writers Guild Awards

Awards season has been chugging along and the road leads to the Academy Awards this week. But before we get there, the Writers Guild Awards has just had its 78th annual ceremony Sunday at Edison Ballroom in Manhattan and showed recognition to the film, TV and audio media. While many award shows have been showing love to the Warner Bros. films Sinners and One Battle After Another with multiple nominations, the highly-acclaimed films would also walk away with the two biggest recognitions of the night.

Ryan Coogler and Sinners received the award for Best Original Screenplay. Then, Paul Thomas Anderson would walk away with a Best Adapted Screenplay award. In television, The Pitt and The Studio — both shows also recognized immensely at other award shows — are big winners of the night as The Pitt was awarded with Best Drama Series and The Studio took home the award for Best Comedy Series.
