Remember Me: Brec Bassinger solves a murder mystery from beyond the grave in Christopher Pike adaptation

Author Christopher Pike has written dozens of novels over the decades, but surprisingly few of his stories have been brought to the screen. There was a 1996 TV movie adaptation of Fall Into Darkness, and his Spookville series became a short-lived TV series in 2013. Mike Flanagan did manage to work adaptations of multiple Pike stories into the (also short-lived) Netflix series The Midnight Club, but there’s a lot more where that came from. Next up to receive the adaptation treatment, Variety reports, is the 1989 young adult horror novel Remember Me.

Cast and Synopsis

Brec Bassinger (Final Destination: Bloodlines) and Charlie Gillespie (Sidelined 2: Intercepted) are set to star in Remember Me, which Match director Danishka Esterhazy will be directing from a script written by Suzanne Keilly (Leprechaun Returns). Esterhazy and Keilly previously worked together on the 2021 version of Slumber Party Massacre.

In this YA supernatural murder-mystery, Shari Cooper (Bassinger) is dead. Like, fell from the top of a high-rise to the street below, dead. And one of her friends is her killer. Now she has to solve her own murder from beyond the grave, before the relentless, soul-sucking Shadow that’s stalking her gets to her first.

Mila Rayne (Darby and the Dead), Phoebe Lyons (Watch Me Burn), Matthew Vey (Summertide), and Kealeboga Masango (Genesis) are also in the cast.

Tubi

Produced by Blue Ice Pictures, as well as Lance Samuels, Esterhazy, and Keilly, Remember Me will be released through the Tubi streaming service.

Adam Lewinson, the chief content officer of Tubi, provided the following statement: “Tubi has become a destination for YA audiences seeking relatable stories, compelling themes and character-driven storytelling brought to life by dynamic talent like Brec and Charlie. Christopher Pike’s Remember Me became a rite of passage for a generation — a twisty, supernatural thriller that readers never forgot — and we’re excited to reimagine it for today’s audience.“

Unproduced Adaptations

Several years ago, we heard that an adaptation of Christopher Pike’s book series The Last Vampire was in the works. Unfortunately, that never made it into production.

When Mike Flanagan was still working on The Midnight Club, it was announced that he would also be making a feature adaptation of Pike’s 1993 sci-fi horror novel The Season of Passage for Universal. Five years later, that one still hasn’t been made.
