Vincent D’Onofrio hopes Marvel and Sony can “get their sh*t together” so that Kingpin can finally face down Spider-Man

Spider-Man and the citizens of Hell’s Kitchen

While the MCU has been pretty flawless at giving fans the crossovers that they’ve been dreaming of for years, Sony’s stranglehold of Spider-Man‘s rights initially introduced some speed bumps in getting the famous wall-crawler into the Marvel Universe. Sony would eventually lend the character to the MCU to join in time for the Infinity Saga, as it really took off, and now we’re on the cusp of a fourth entry in his solo series. In the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer, Peter Parker encountered Frank Castle and what looked like The Hand, both of which have been featured in the Marvel Daredevil shows. But one character in the Daredevil series has notoriously tangled with the web slinger in all other media except this live-action universe — Wilson Fisk aka The Kingpin.

D’Onofrio wants Marvel and Sony to get their sh*t together

According to Variety, a fan reached out to Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio, who will sometimes touch base with fans on social media. They inquired with D’Onofrio if the Kingpin will ever fight Spider-Man in a live-action forum. D’Onofrio simply replied,

If Sony and Marvel ever get their sh*t together maybe. It’s a complicated rights issue. Hope so.”

Previously, in Spider-Man: No Way Home, one of the big crossover moments involved a cameo by Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock. So, Sony and Marvel are teasing some friendly sharing of more and more characters. While the Brand New Day trailer showed plenty of footage from the new film, the plot is still being kept pretty secret. However, with the integration of Punisher and The Hand (plus the fact that he’s supposed to be a street-level hero this time around), perhaps one of the biggest reveals to come is Fisk finally coming face-to-face with Spidey.

Daredevil: Born Again

Of course, more may develop as season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again gets released. Our Alex Maidy recently got to preview the season and he glowed about it in his 9/10 review, saying, “Daredevil: Born Again nicely continues the story set up in the first season while closing the narrative in a satisfying way. There are definitely threads left open for where the series will head in the already announced third season, which is set to draw on another iconic arc from the comic books. Better than the first season and on par with the Netflix series’ strongest elements, Daredevil: Born Again is easily one of the most enjoyable mature superhero series ever, earning a spot alongside The Penguin.
