Ryan Gosling boards the first film project from the Daniels since Everything Everywhere All At Once

Fresh off the success of Project Hail Mary, which is sitting at an impressive $155.6M+ at the global box office so far, Ryan Gosling is making headlines again by joining the latest film project from the Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), whose Everything Everywhere All At Once won Best Picture at the 2022 Academy Awards.

The Daniels’ new project is shrouded in mystery

The Daniels’ new project comes from Universal Pictures, though plot details remain a mystery. Production starts later this summer in Los Angeles, with Kwan, Scheinert, and Jonathan Wang producing through their Playgrounds overall deal. It comforts me to know the Daniels have taken their time developing this new film. Usually, when a filmmaking duo wins at life as much as the Daniels have, the goal is to rush their next project into production. According to water-cooler whispers, the Daniels are seeking younger cast members for their mysterious new project. If landing Ryan Gosling is any indication, they’re off to a fantastic start.

Ryan Gosling can’t be stopped

Meanwhile, Ryan Godling is eating well with one well-received project after another. 2023’s Barbie was one of the most successful films that year, and The Fall Guy – despite not doing as well at the box office as executives would have hoped – is a fan favorite among action and romance fans. Project Hail Mary speaks for itself (read our review here), while Gosling’s Star Wars: Starfighter is already one of 2027’s most anticipated films. In Star Wars: Starfighter, a solitary pilot becomes entangled in a crucial mission as new threats emerge. The journey may alter the Force’s future!

Finally, Gosling is on board for the upcoming action comedy Tough Guys, which re-teams the dreamy-eyed actor with comedic legend Will Ferrell. In Tough Guys, two low-level criminals grow weary of being expendable pawns and decide to forge their own path, leaving behind their dangerous world to create a fresh start and make their own rules.

What do you think the Daniels’ new film project is about? Who would you add to the cast to make it another banger? Will it be as boundary-pushing as Everything Everywhere All At Once? I can’t wait to learn more details about this mysterious project.
