The Madison becomes Taylor Sheridan’s biggest series debut ever
The launch of a new Taylor Sheridan series is typically a big event, but the premiere of The Madison has given the prolific creator the best first-season launch he’s ever had. The first episode of the series hit 8 million views globally in the first ten days of streaming on Paramount+. Additionally, this is Sheridan’s most popular series launch among women ages 35 and older, and it was the #1 original season by views among streaming originals in its first week of release, according to Luminate.
The Madison
The series is a “heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.” It stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell, Beau Garrett, Elle Chapman, Patrick J. Adams, Amiah Miller, Alaina Pollack, Ben Schnetzer, Kevin Zegers, Rebecca Spence, Danielle Vasinova, Matthew Fox, and Will Arnett.
Season Two is in The Works
The series has already been renewed for a second season, and Pfeiffer recently dropped a little tease of what’s in store. “It’s after the initial stage of raw grief passes, and some time has gone by,” she said. “It’s the messy and profound rebuilding of everything that you knew after everything that you knew has fallen apart and what that looks like.“
Russell added, “I think it’s fair to say that in Season 2 — and I believe Michelle will agree with me — what happens is the level of real danger goes up. Things begin to become dangerous in realistic ways.“
What We Thought of the First Season
Our own Alex Maidy really enjoy the series. “I had started to think that Taylor Sheridan was only capable of soap operas, crime thrillers, or a blend of the two, but The Madison has redeemed him in a way I did not expect,” he wrote. “This is a touching drama that will hit you emotionally and gut-wrenchingly, but will also leave you wanting to take stock of your own family and relationships.
