DISTANT LANDS Official Teaser Trailer
LOVE, DEATH + ROBOTS | Official Trailer

Kara Zor-El and Lobo join forces for a spacefaring, redemptive rescue mission in the latest Supergirl trailer

When you’re a supervillain, you can get away with doing a lot of terrible things. However, no one takes Krypto out of commission and lives to tell the tale. In the new Supergirl trailer, Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts) and his merry band of idiots make the mistake of pissing off Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock), who’s got more than enough on her plate already. She’s nursing a wicked hangover, someone just poisoned her dog, and a mysterious girl by the name of Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley) needs Kara’s help to avenge her family. It’s a lot to consider, especially when a cigar-chomping bounty hunter by the name of Lobo (Jason Momoa) is hot on your trailer and looking to cause trouble.

A superhero-sized hangover won’t stop Kara Zor-El

After promising a new trailer for Craig Gillespie’s Supergirl, DC Studios and James Gunn delivered the goods, giving us our best look yet at the upcoming interplanetary adventure. Straight up, the trailer is everything I hoped for from this movie. I’m a fan of the original story by Tom King and artist Bilquis Evely, and think this hardened approach to Kara is exactly the shot in the arm the DCU needs to separate itself from the old guard. Kara is in a terrible place during this story. While Clark has grown up on the Kent family farm, surrounded by loved ones and understanding, Kara has spent much of her life trapped in stasis, her family and the people she loved obliterated. It takes time to get over something like that, if you ever do. Then, Krypto takes an arrow to the knee, and Ruthye Marye Knoll comes calling for help. Despite her reservations, Kara will learn what it means to become a hero, even if she stops for a drink or two along the way.

What’s Supergirl about?

Supergirl will be directed by Craig Gillespie and scripted by Ana Nogueira. It’s based on the comic series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, written by Tom King and illustrated by Bilquis Evely. After her father is murdered and the one responsible is still out there, a young alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll seeks out Supergirl to help her on a vicious mission. She wants revenge, and if Supergirl doesn’t help her, she’ll do it herself, whatever the cost.

Supergirl stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Emily Beechum as Alura, Jason Momoa as Lobo, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, and Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll.

Lobo’s in the house

The new trailer also gives us our best look yet at Jason Momoa’s Lobo, whose name literally means “he who devours your entrails and thoroughly enjoys it” in his native Czarnian tongue. Lobo looks out for himself, first and foremost, though it looks as if he’ll eventually join Kara Zor-El in her fight against Krem of the Yellow Hills and his horde. With the clock ticking down until Krypto’s demise, Supergirl will stop at nothing to save the best boy in the galaxy. Also, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say Lobo is a dog lover. After all, who could look at Krypto’s fuzzy face and not want to do everything in their power to help save him?

In addition to the latest Supergirl trailer, DC Studios unleashed a new poster for the upcoming film. You can check it out below.

Supergirl comes to theaters on June 26, 2026.
