The Boys Final Season: Antony Starr, Jessie T. Usher & Eric Kripke Tease the End
After five seasons, The Boys is finally nearing its end. The show has been something of a landmark as far as streaming TV and superhero fiction go. Not only was it one of the biggest hits to emerge during the pandemic, but it’s also given Prime Video a defining piece of IP that they’ve successfully expanded into a full-fledged franchise. That includes two seasons of the spinoff Gen V, one season of the animated series Diabolical, and the upcoming prequel Vought Rising.
Now, the Butcher versus Homelander saga is set to come to a close, with the first two episodes of the final season debuting on April 9. New episodes will roll out weekly, leading up to the series finale on May 20. It’s the end of a major chapter—but clearly not the end of the universe.
While the entire cast was out doing press in Rome, Italy, I was able to sit down for a brief interview with some key players behind the show. We’ll be rolling out a number of these interviews throughout the week, but first up is Homelander himself, Antony Starr, alongside A-Train actor Jessie T. Usher, and showrunner Eric Kripke.
Even though time was tight, I managed to squeeze in some fun questions. Usher breaks down A-Train’s full arc across the series, Starr discusses how he’s embraced the many (in)famous Homelander memes, and Kripke offers some insight into what’s next for The Boys franchise—which, despite the flagship series ending, is clearly far from over.
You can check out the full interview embedded above, and be sure to check back throughout the week for more interviews (including Jensen Ackles), as well as our review of the new season. The Boys Season 5 premieres April 9 on Prime Video.
