Netflix announces Lego One Piece expansion, plus the title for season 3

One Piece Season 2

One Piece season 2 debuted on Netflix last month, and as expected, the latest installment of the live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s hugely popular manga series has rocketed to the #1 spot on the streaming service’s Top 10 list. Our Steve Seigh gave the new season a glowing review, saying, “The second season of Netflix’s One Piece is epic, sprawling, and offers more variety than the first regarding character introductions, jaw-dropping set pieces, and imaginative ways of recreating Oda’s legendary creation in live-action. The show never shies away from its anime roots, choosing to revel in One Piece‘s swashbuckling silliness, extreme sense of style, and powerful messages of optimism, adventure, and making your dreams come true.”

Title for season 3

Netflix has also unveiled the title of season 3, which will be The Battle of Alabasta.

Joe Tracz and Ian Stokes, ONE PIECE co-showrunners, stated, “The Alabasta saga is one of the best-loved stories in all of ONE PIECE — and one of our personal favorite arcs — so it’s a huge honor to bring it to life. Season Three builds on everything we’ve done before to tell a war story that’s epic and emotional, spectacular and surprising. We can’t wait for fans to join us in Alabasta, where the stakes are high… and the ducks are big.”

It was previously announced that Cole Escola was to be joining the show as “Bon Clay” and Cobra Kai‘s Xolo Maridueña has also been announced to be added to the new season as the character, “Portgas D. Ace.” Season three will also see series writer Ian Stokes – who penned “The Man in the Straw Hat” and co-wrote “The Girl with the Sawfish Tattoo” – joining Joe Tracz as showrunner. Stokes is co-writing the season two debut, “The Beginning and the End”, with Matt Owens, who developed the series alongside Steve Maedea. Joe Tracz & Ian Stokes will be the executive producers, writers and showrunners of the third season, while Eiichiro Oda, Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements through Tomorrow Studios, Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, Christoph Schrewe and Steven Maeda are on board as executive producers.
