M.I.A.: A woman hellbent on revenge vows to eliminate 12 men in a gritty trailer for the new series from the co-creator of Ozark

The first season of the crime drama revenge thriller M.I.A. is set to premiere on the Peacock streaming service on May 7th – and with that date just weeks away, a trailer for the show has dropped online! You can watch it in the embed above.

Cast and Synopsis

From creator Bill Dubuque (Ozark) and showrunner Karen Campbell (Dexter), M.I.A. stars Shannon Gisela (Her Study of a Killer) as Etta Tiger Jonze – and for this character, running drugs is a family affair. When the family business is threatened, she is thrust into a life she never expected, forcing her to use her wits to survive as she navigates Miami’s criminal underground.

As Deadline notes, in the trailer, it’s revealed that most of Etta’s family was killed, and the young woman is hell-bent on revenge. She must find and kill a dozen men who were behind the crime, who are also hunting for her. By her side are her new friends, Lovely and Stanley, bringing together Latinos and Haitians, two of the largest communities in Miami.

Brittany Adebumola (4400) plays Lovely, with Dylan T. Jackson (Godfather of Harlem) as Stanley.

Also in the cast are

Cary Elwes (Saw)

Danay Garcia (Fear the Walking Dead)

Alberto Guerra (Griselda)

Maurice Compte (Den of Thieves)

Gerardo Celasco (Devil in Ohio)

Marta Milans (White Lines)

The guest cast includes

Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica)

Billy Burke (Drive Angry)

Sonia Braga (The First Omen)

Loretta Devine (Family Reunion)

Tovah Feldshuh (Nobody Wants This)

Tyler Perez (Abbott Elementary)

Paul Ben-Victor (The Wire)

David Denman (The Equalizer)

That’s a strong cast and the stories sounds interesting, so I’m looking forward to seeing what M.I.A. is going to be like.

How many episodes?

The first season of M.I.A. consists of nine 60-minute episodes.

Dubuque and Campbell executive produce the series alongside Alethea Jones and Stefano Sollima, with Joshua Levey producing and Debra Moore Muñoz and Joseph Zolfo serving as co-executive producers.
