Is Amazon eyeing House of Guiness actor Louis Partridge for the role of 007 in the next James Bond movie?

How does House of Guiness actor Louis Patridge like his martinis? We could find out if a new rumor shakes out. According to Variety, Partridge is the latest (and youngest) actor under consideration for the role of James Bond in Denis Villeneuve‘s upcoming spy thriller, which focuses on the world-famous superspy. The search for the next actor to play 007 after Daniel Craig’s fifth and final portrayal in No Time to Die (2021) is ongoing, and today’s “news” should not be taken as gospel.

The long road to Bond 26

In February of last year, Amazon assumed creative control of the James Bond franchise, and it’s been one stumbling block after another with casting, director choices, tone, and more. Denis Villeneuve is busy putting the finishing touches on his final Dune movie, Dune: Part Three, but after that, it’s time to focus on Amazon’s Bond movie. Today, Variety reports that House of Guiness star Louis Partridge could become the youngest actor ever to play James Bond. He’s only 22, but he could have a leg up on the competition.

The Steve Knight connection

In Variety’s report, the outlet says Partridge’s magic bullet is Steve Knight, who created House of Guniess, where Partridge stars as Edward Partridge. Knight is writing Amazon’s Bond 26, which puts Partridge in a prime position to have the creative’s ear. While this is interesting, it’s worth noting, again, that it’s all hearsay. Attempts to confirm with Partridge’s reps or Amazon MGM Studios have been predictably futile. Still, previous reports indicate that Amazon is looking for a “fresh face” to lead the next James Bond movie, and Partridge certainly has the look.

If brand synergy is to be believed

If Partridge plays his cards right, he could lead the Bond franchise for five to six installments, giving the studio a chance at longevity with an up-and-coming actor as the suave superspy. Still, we don’t know who started this rumor, or if it holds any water. Just because the stars seem to align doesn’t mean it’s happening as the watercooler says. I think Amazon would be smart to cast a young actor for the role, especially with IO Entertainment’s highly anticipated video game 007: First Light featuring a “fresh faced” version of the character. Brand synergy is important, folks.
