New Snow White image features Rachel Zegler surrounded by the Seven Dwarfs in all their terrifying CG glory

Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs certainly seems to have struck a nerve for some people, and I doubt the first-look image is going to change anyone’s mind.

The studio announced this morning that the release of Snow White had been pushed from March 22, 2024, to March 21, 2025, but they also released a new image featuring Rachel Zegler’s Snow White surrounded by the Seven Dwarfs. Unfortunately, the characters look as though they’ve been dragged from the uncanny valley kicking and screaming. Check it out below.

That’s some Polar Express shit right here. The reveal of the characters may also come as a surprise to some as Disney had implied that they would be taking a different approach with the Dwarves after Peter Dinklage slammed the remake last year.

“I was a little taken aback when they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White,” Dinklage said. “You’re still telling the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Take a step back and look at what you’re doing there. It makes no sense to me. You’re progressive in one way and you’re still making that f–king backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together, what the f–k are you doing man? Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox? I guess I’m not loud enough.“

In response, Disney released the following statement: “To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community. We look forward to sharing more as the film heads into production after a lengthy development period.“

Not everyone agreed with Dinklage’s statement, with some saying that it potentially took away acting opportunities from those in the dwarfism community. Jackass‘s Jason “Wee Man” Acuña said “You’re replacing jobs that people could have as little people. It’s for dwarfs. Why are you hiring ‘Snow White and the seven average people’?“

The Snow White remake stars Rachel Zegler in the title role, alongside Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, Ansu Kabia as the Huntsman, and Andrew Burnap as Jonathan, a new character created for the film.

What do you think of the first-look image from Snow White?
