In the late 1950s suburban America, two women Celine (Hathaway) and Alice (Chastain) live next door to each other. They are good friends, and their sons get on well too. When a devastating tragedy occurs, and Celine’s son Max sadly dies – tension starts to build between the two.

Very unique and well directed drama from first time director Delhomme, with brilliant use of colours, camera angles and lighting – which adds to the tension. The almost flawless look of the era, with set designs, costumes is front and center.

The performances are on point, and the maturity that both Hathaway and Chastain bring is something I felt that they probably could not have done until now.

There is a very unique ending that I was very surprised at.
