Paul Giamatti to star in horror film Boutique
Paul Giamatti is one of the most highly respected actors working in the industry today, and he’s also quite prolific, with over 120 screen credits to his name – and when he was on the Golden Globes red carpet a couple of years ago, the night he won an award for his performance in the excellent comedy / drama film The Holdovers, he revealed there’s one area where he feels his career is lacking: he hasn’t worked on enough horror projects. Since then, he has signed on for a Hostel TV series that’s going to stream on Peacock, and now Deadline reports that he is set to star in a horror film called Boutique.
Story
Coming our way from writer/director Jim Gavin, Boutique will see Giamatti taking on the role of American tourist Calvin, who journeys to the eerie English seaside town that inspired the work of his favorite reclusive author but instead gets entangled with a murderous secret society permeating the whole town. So it sounds like it might be something along the lines of The Wicker Man.
Giamatti is producing the film with Dan Carey through their company Touchy Feely Films, along with James Harris and Mark Lane for Tea Shop Productions and Guy Danella for XYZ Films, who will also finance. Jacob Jaffke serves as an executive producer.
This will mark the feature directorial debut of Gavin, who previously created the AMC comedy drama series Lodge 49. Giamatti was an executive producer on that show and made an uncredited vocal cameo in the first season.
