Sonic the Hedgehog 4 gets an obvious title reveal alongside a teaser that confirms Jim Carrey’s return as Dr. Robotnik
This Thursday is off to the races as Paramount Pictures is ready to reveal the official title of the fourth Sonic the Hedgehog movie! Are you ready to find out what it is? Are you champing at the bit? I bet you are. Okay. Prepare yourselves. Here we go! The official title of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is… Sonic the Hedgehog 4! Insert “mind blown” GIF here.
Stop! Hammer time!
In addition to sharing the official title for the next money-printing Sonic sequel, Paramount also unveiled a teaser for the new film, featuring narration from Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik, confirming the rubber-faced actor’s return to the fan-favorite franchise. In the teaser, Amy Rose’s signature hammer flies through the unknown before shattering a mysterious barrier in the vast darkness. When the shards begin to drift, we see different Chaos Emeralds with different characters from the Sonic film franchise reflected in the powerful gems. While Dr. Robotnik narrates the promo, he warns that the struggle for the universe has only just begun. With audiences properly amped, the teaser reveals that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will race into theaters on March 19, 2027.
Who stars in Sonic the Hedgehog 4?
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 finds Ben Schwartz returning to voice the Blue Blur, with Colleen O’Shaughnessey as the voice of Tails, Idris Elba as Knuckles, Keanu Reeves as Shadow, and Kristen Bell as the voice of Amy Rose, a new addition to Sonic’s crew. Other cast members include James Marsden and Tika Sumpter as Sonic’s adoptive parents, Tom and Maddie, with Lee Majdoub reprising his role as Agent Stone. Finally, Nick Offerman, Ben Kingsley, and Richard Ayoade round out the cast, though we do not yet know who they’ll play. Also, if Nick Offerman ends up voicing Big the Cat, I’m going to lose my mind. Doubtful, but I can dream.
The Amy Rose hype is real
Jeff Fowler, who directed the previous three movies, returns to helm the fourth chapter of the film franchise. Neal H. Moritz and Toby Ascher of Original Films, and Toru Nakahara, return as producers, with Paramount scheduling the film for a March 19, 2027, release. If you combine all three films, Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has earned over $1 billion worldwide.
Are you looking forward to Sonic the Hedgehog 4? It’s okay if you are. I’ll be there on the opening weekend (probably Thursday night if I’m being honest) to see what this franchise does next. I’m not even that much of a Sonic diehard, but the third movie was so much fun that I need to be there for the next chapter.
