Anything and everything is possible in the trailer for Rick and Morty season 9

The trailer for season 9 of Adult Swim’s popular Rick and Morty series has hit online. The soundtrack to the trailer is Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell” and it proudly plays the chorus, in which Idol keeps exclaiming, “More! More! More!” And that’s exactly what this season of the hit animated show is going to give you — more insanity! There are no two clips that look like they go together, as the trailer narrator explains that “Anything is possible when everything is possible.” Furthermore, with all the crazy imagery Rick and Morty has brought us, they firmly state that this show will not succumb to “AI slop.” Recently, the Sora program had been used to produce AI-created Rick and Morty videos.

The official description, according to The Hollywood Reporter, reads,
Rick and Morty is back, baby! Season Nine is all certified bangers. No AI slop! Just Grade A organic slop, made by real humans with real human traits like back hair and cysts. Please watch, or we’ll have neglected our families for nothing.” The ten-episode season is slated to premiere on Adult Swim on May 24.

Showrunner and executive producer Scott Marder previously stated in an AMA, “I would say Season 9 will convince everyone we’ve got a full tank of gas left in us. The episode ideas are still REALLY flowing, and Rick still has plenty of mean left in him.” Cartoon Network has renewed the series through season 12, so there are plenty of new adventures to look forward to.

Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim, has also stated, “I know it’s my job to say that this show just keeps topping itself, but it also has the benefit of being true. It’s kind of scary what this show unit is doing season over season — just pouring an absurd amount of talent and brilliance into these episodes. From the first frame, you’re going to see great high‑concept insanity with some of the best character writing ever done. Again, it’s my job to say that, but it’s also true.”

Last year, series creator Dan Harmon told THR, “My part of it is, I’ll just always insist on the modular, one-off thing. That is harder to pull off and therefore requires more energy. And serialization is a glorious, wonderful thing that happens automatically to a show that people love. So it doesn’t really need help. But we do have younger, smarter people on the staff whose very job is to remember which Rick is from which dimension. They make great, strong advocates for fantastic and canonical mythical episodes.”
