Fortnite: Zack Snyder says he’d direct a live-action adaptation and wants Rebel Moon skins in the game

Grab your favorite skin from the Locker, and remember to thank the bus driver because Fortnite movie news is on the menu! Video game adaptations are all the rage in Hollywood as studios scramble to determine which interactive properties will net them the most cash. The success of projects like Sonic the HedgehogThe Last of Us, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie proves it’s possible to get people to care about video games outside the console, mobile, and PC market, and Rebel Moon creator Zack Snyder could get in on the action with an adaptation of one of the world’s biggest games, Fortnite!

Speaking with Etalk, Snyder said “of course” to whether he is interested in directing a live-action Fornite adaptation. “Never say never,” Snyder added.

“I really wanted to make some Fortnite skins for the movie [Rebel Moon], first of all, just like, as the most obviously basic involvement,” Snyder said. “But yeah, look, Fortnite is an amazing world, and it is an amazing distraction for me. But it’s really cool, and the alchemy that they’ve created there is really unique. When I started playing it, I thought I knew what it was, and then it was something entirely different.”

“You definitely don’t know,” he added. “You definitely can never say never – that’s my mantra in this business.”

Fortnite recently experienced its biggest day ever when 44.7 million players descended on the game in one day, thanks to Epic bringing back the game’s OG Map. Nostalgia did its work, bringing retired players back to the fold and giving new players a taste of how the game used to look and play. In addition to hosting the OG Map for a limited time, Fortnite recently introduced three new modes, including LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival. All three game modes offer new ways to experience Fortnite, teasing the platform’s ability to expand and host a variety of game types.

Some laugh at the idea of Rebel Moon skins appearing in Fortnite, but I’ll remind them about the level of exposure the game offers. Here’s an example: I’m trying to save for Christmas and an upcoming trip to Red Rocks, Colorado, for the Sessanta (Puscifer, A Perfect Circle, Primus) Tour. However, did my irresponsible and impulsive ass blow $40 on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle skins? You bet! Fortnite has a habit of getting its fangs into players, and Rebel Moon skins would be an excellent promo for Snyder’s upcoming film.

Would you be excited about a Zack Snyder-directed Fortnite movie? Would you want it to be live-action or animated? Do you hope to see Rebel Moon skins in Fortnite later? For the sequel? Let us know in the comments below.

Meanwhile, Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire debuts in theaters and on Netflix on December 21.
