The magic returns as Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, and Lee Pace cast a wicked love spell in the Practical Magic 2 trailer

If you could use a pick-me-up this Monday afternoon, look no further than the new Practical Magic 2 trailer, featuring Sandra Bullock (Speed, Ocean’s Eight) and Nicole Kidman (Paddington, Eyes Wide Shut) as the enchanting Owens sisters, Sally and Gillian, respectively. It’s been 28 years since the Owens cast a spell over audiences in the Griffin Dunne-directed romantic fantasy comedy Practical Magic, but it’s time to go back to the cauldron for more toil and trouble of the heart.

What’s Practical Magic 2 About?

Here’s the official synopsis for Practical Magic 2:

“Starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, Practical Magic 2 returns to a world steeped in moonlit mischief and powerful ancestral magic, as the Owens sisters must confront the dark curse that threatens to unravel their family once and for all in a must-see cinematic event of fun, magic and mayhem.”

Who Else Stars in Practical Magic 2?

In addition to Bullock and Kidman, Practical Magic 2 stars Joey King (The Act, Bullet Train), Lee Pace (The Fall, Stardust), Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones, The New Mutants), Xolo Maridueña (Blue Beetle, Cobra Kai), Solly McLeod (Brothers Under Fire, House of the Dragon), Stockard Channing (Practical Magic, Six Degrees of Separation), Dianne Wiest (The Birdcage, Edward Scissorhands)

What Happens in the Practical Magic 2 Trailer?

In today’s Practical Magic 2 trailer, Sandra Bullock reintroduces us to the Owens family, the ones from Massachusetts. The ones their neighbors whisper about. Why? Because they’re witches, and everyone they love dies a “really horrible death.” As a lively version of Harry Nilsson’s “Coconut” fills the air, we witness the Owens family once again looking for love, casting spells, and hoping to defy their terrible luck in matters of the heart.

The sets and costumes for Practical Magic 2 look positively stunning, while Bullock and Kidman don’t miss a beat to deliver adorable comedy at their character’s expense. Practical Magic 2 welcomes new witches to the cover while bringing others from the original back for more whimsical witchcraft.

Susanne Bier directs Practical Magic 2 from a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman and Georgia Pritchett, based on The Book of Magic by Alice Hoffman. The film, produced by Bullock, Kidman, and Denise Di Novi, arrives in theaters on September 11, 2026.

Adorable Magic

I’ve yet to see the original Practical Magic, but after watching this trailer, I’m adding it to my list. My wife speaks highly of the 1998 supernatural rom-com, and everything about this new trailer is downright adorable. I’m ready to fall under the Owens sisters’ spell. Are you? Let us know in the comments section below.

Life Update: Ha! My wife just yelled at me for never seeing the original. Apparently, we’re watching it tonight. No exceptions.
